The Camberwell Submarine Black and White

Located on Akerman Road, SW9, this was originally known as the Myatt’s Fields North Boiler House, which rather gives the game away about its purpose. Designed by Michael Luffingham when he was at Lambeth Borough Council it was designed and constructed between 1974 -1979. 

It’s a rather splendid, eccentric, structure which rather dominates the quiet road it is situated in. It was upgraded with (amongst other things) taller conning towers, ah, sorry, chimneys back in 2013, reinforcing its submarine like appearance.
