Imperial Hotel, C. Lovett Gill & Partners 1966C–1970

I finally got out on Saturday for a walk through and around the West End of London where there are plenty of examples of Brutalism scattered around.

Sadly the light throughout the day was really poor – heavy overcast grey skies…not ideal for photography…but at worse I’ve had a good scouting mission!

I had 12 buildings to see…but actually only managed to get to 9 of them on my list before the light completely failed, although I did stumble upon a couple of buildings that I didn’t know existed but were definitely brutalist.

So, look forward to a few posts over the next few weeks including:

  • The Standard Hotel
  • The Weston Rise Estate
  • The Brunswick Centre
  • SOAS & The Institute of Education
  • The Imperial Hotel
  • CAA House (second visit)
  • Covent Garden Travel Lodge
  • St Giles Hotel
  • The Royal College of Physicians
  • Bonus find (1) 115 New Cavendish Street
  • Bonus Find (2) Holiday Inn, Regents Park

Todays image is of The Imperial Hotel, designed by C. Lovett Gill & Partners and constructed between 1966C–1970
